JOC Membership
| Hello everyone, JOC is moving to a new level this season and we are introducing a membership system for JOC. We are offering two levels of membership $20 - Operator $50 - Tier 1 With your purchased membership you will have a number of things available to you dependent on the level of membership. All paid members are entitled to the following:

Why are we doing this? As the leadership we have recognized that we need to move the club into the next steps. Behind the scenes we have been doing alot of work to get the club setup for long term viability and sustainability. We have established a formalized leadership, we are making us a non profit org, and the biggest of all, we are obtaining insurance for the club. We have recognized to move us into the next step a membership structure would be beneficial in helping the club move along efficiently. A more formalized "state of the union" post will be forthcoming detailing the changes. How do I become a member? Good question. Some of you may have noticed the new Store icon appear here on the boards. We now have a fully automated way of handling membership fees, game fees, as well as JOC related merchandise. Click Here to visit the store directly! When does my membership expire? The system is automated so it will expire exactly one year from your purchase. So if you purchased in Aug of 2011 it will be valid until Aug of 2012 Why do I need it? If you're happy with what you have right now, then you don't need it. Nothing changes for non-members. Same game fees, same forum access. Nothing changes for people who don't want to purchase a membership. If you don't see value or want to lend a hand in moving the JOC community forward, then don't get a membership. Why does JOC charge for official memberships? Just like your hockey club, RC club, soccer club, etc, JOC has operating expenses to cover. In the next 8-10 months we will have insurance costs (~$2500 per year), forum hosting fees (~$600 per year), accounting and tax filings (~$900 per year), and many other costs necessary to just to keep the club going. That doesn't include the cost of props, time or materials, or things of that nature. If we are going to grow and enhance the Calgary airsoft community, we need to stop relying on the generosity of the same 2 or 3 people to pay these costs. We all need to take care of our business, as a community. Which is what the membership fees help us do. Why should I get a membership? You don't need a membership if you're already happy with what you have now, BUT, the value of the memberships should be pretty evident. Beside the membership enhancements like being able to attend the JOC Membership meetings, increased PM size, Sniper certification privileges, there are discounts that by themselves make this a no brainer: Operator Membership - Cost $20 Discounts - $5 off at JOC hosted games Do you play more than 4 games a year? Then this thing pays itself off based on that alone. Tier1 Membership - Cost $50 Discounts - $5 off at JOC hosted games, 10% off at 007 airsoft amd Imperial Airsoft, 5% off at double Tap tactical Do you spend more than $500 a year on airsoft gear (I believe we all know the answer to this one)? Then a tier1 membership pays for itself. Do you attend 5 games a year and spend $250 on airsoft gear in a year? Same thing. This level has, by far, the greatest upside. Buy one AEG and it has more than paid for itself. On behalf of the Administration staff thank you everyone for your support and we look forward to growing the club this year. |
