Rules and Regulations
Rules and Regulations for all JOC airsoft games. GENERAL RULES Age Limits: All players must be at least 16 years or older. Players under the age of 18 years must have written parental or guardian consent in order to play. All weapons and gear should be properly stowed and transported to and from any game field. Proper gun cases or soft bags should be used for transportation. Never take your airsoft gun into public. Remember, it is against the law to technically fire your airsoft weapon in city limits. Please no backyard games. SAFETY Ignorance of the rules is no excuse. It is presumed that you have read and understand ALL rules before playing. The game organizers are NOT responsible for your safety. Although they have taken reasonable steps to provide a gameplay environment that is both safe and as realistic as possible, this in no way guarantees your safety. Ultimately the only person responsible for your safety is YOU. EYE PROTECTION MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES. If you decide to rest or take a break while on the field, your eye protection must stay on. The only time you are permitted to remove your eye protection is when you are in a goggles-up safe zone. Being an honor sport, a sense of chivalry is implied, meaning, you should not only be concerned with your safety, but the safety of all other players in the game. Choose you actions accordingly. There may be inherent danger in close range props, traps, vehicles and equipment. It is suggested that unless you have received proper instruction you leave these items alone. If a game stoppage is required, the field admins will communicate to all the players an order to “Stand Down”. Depending on the nature of the stoppage, one of two commands will be issued/relayed by the admin team: Personal Protective Equipment Eye, Head, and Face Protection: Eye Protection: Players must wear approved eye protection, such as paintball masks, glasses and goggles. Any questionable eye protection is subject to inspection and testing by a field admin. Goggles/glasses must have a minimum rating of ANSI z87.1+. The style of eye protection will differ from field to field. Some fields will allow the glasses style of eye protection and some require that you have a sealed set of goggles please check the sign up for any specific rules. Neither the host club nor the field is responsible for any eye wear that is damaged during testing.
EYE PROTECTION MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON FIELD. If you decide to rest or take a break your goggles must stay on while on the field. As long as you are on the game field your goggles are on if and only when you are in a goggles up safe zone may you remove your protection. We also encourage the use of additional safety protection such as balaclavas, full face masks, and teeth protection. Choose your own level of protection but be aware that many players have had teeth broken by low FPS weapons. A $10 mask might save you $500 in dental work. Under 18 players are required to wear full face protection Conduct Substance Abuse THE USE OF MIND ALTERING SUBSTANCES (OF ANY KIND) BEFORE OR DURING THE GAME WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. This includes, but is not limited to alcohol, drugs and prescription medications. Behaviour, Ethics, Honour and Integrity Airsoft is a sport founded on the principles of honour, respect and honesty. Our commitment to these principles ensures the success and longevity of the sport Players are expected to conduct themselves in a mature, responsible and respectful manner both on and off the field. Threatening language and verbal threats, slurs against race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender will not be tolerated under any circumstances. However, we recognize that some verbal angst and banter is to be expected during game play - please conduct yourself accordingly. Players will display mutual respect and treat the gear, equipment, props and property of other players, event staff and landowners with utmost care and regard. Acts of vandalism will not be tolerated. Physical Contact Physically or verbally abusive or threatening behavior of any nature is strictly prohibited and is grounds from immediate removal from the club Players are not permitted to make physical contact with another player. If the scenario requires physical contact, an admin will approve the action. Cheating, Complaining and Disciplinary Actions Cheating and intentional rule violations will result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from the game and/or a ban from all future events. To report someone for cheating or rule violations you can either report the individual immediately to a commanding officer or game organizer, or wait until after the game and report the individual to a game organizer or field owner. Under no circumstances should you confront the player directly during a game. You should always notify an official and allow them to take the appropriate action. When reporting a player, please ensure you can positively identify the individual. Players observed not calling their hits by an admin or game admin may be ejected from the game on the spot. Gun Rules Velocity Rules (Feet Per Second): Outdoor Events:
* Players using a bolt action rifle firing over 425 fps are required to have a side arm and must use that side arm when engaging other players that are less then 40 feet away. Indoor Events:
All weapons are cronographed with .20 weight BB's. Heavier BB's will not lower your FPS for base FPS purposes. Remember - These rules are a limit, not a goal. Indoor Select Fire: Laser Trek: - All weapons are restricted to semi auto only Gun Chronographing Players must chrony their weapons before being allowed on the field. All chronoed guns will be marked for easy identification. Guns may be randomly chronoed by game admins at any time during the game. Safe Zones When in safe zones, all players must follow these rules: • No BB's in the chamber. • Magazines out. SAW’s may leave box magazines in place. • Pistols holstered. • Safeties on. • Muzzle covers on. • M203 shells removed from launcher tubes. Muzzle covers or barrel condoms may be required equipment for some fields however we encourage all users to utilize them. Gloves and socks are not suitable muzzle covers. Players will not fire into or out of safe zones. Gear Personal Effects Damaged, lost or stolen personal effects are the sole responsibility of the player; the game organizers and field owners are not liable for compensation. Any person found stealing or vandalizing property will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. All items found should be turned in to the game organizer. Laser Devices Lasers Class IIIb and Class IV are prohibited on the field. Lasers Class I, Class II and Class IIIA (under 5mW) are permitted. Players wishing to use laser devices on the field will have to prove the laser is of the permitted class and power. If the player cannot prove the class and/or power of the laser device, it will not be allowed on the field, operational or not. Players will not intentionally shine lasers in the face or eyes of other players. Training Knives Rubber training knives are allowed and encouraged to be used on the field. Rubber training knives can be thrown underhand at an opposing player. No other throwing style is permitted. Real Steel Knives Knives over 4" or 10.16 cm (i.e., KA-BARs, bayonets, SEAL Pups, "Rambo-style” knives) are not to be carried on to the field. Knives under 4", such as multi-tools and Swiss Army knives, are permitted if properly stored. Smoke Grenades/Pyrotechnics: Homemade pyro/smoke is not allowed at any game. Please check with the Admin on site before the use of any other pyro/smoke grenades as field conditions (ex: dry grass) may not allow for its use that day. Commercial cold burning smokes such as marine flares are permitted. Proper fireworks may be permitted depending on field conditions and owners permission. Cardboard tube style smoke grenades are generally disallowed due to the heat generated. GAMEPLAY Hits: Airsoft is a sport based on the honor system. BBs do not leave any form of mark to denote a hit, so it is up to the individual to call themselves out. Failure to do so is obvious to those around you. Cheating not only dishonors yourself, but those you play with as well. It robs everyone of a fun airsoft experience. If any of the Admins catch someone intentionally not calling their hits they will be sent home! 1. Hits: You are considered hit anytime a BB hits you anywhere on your body, gear or weapon. The same rules apply to friendly fire! 2. Weapon hits: If the gun you have in your hands gets hit by a bb, or knife, it is immediately disabled & you can no longer use that gun until the next game or until you respawn. When your gun is hit you must call out "Gun hit!" and stop shooting it immediately. You can either switch to your secondary, a knife, borrow a gun off a buddy or you can call yourself out. Once your gun is disabled it is now a part of your gear and if it is hit again it counts as a kill shot. 3. Knife kills: Rubber training knives may be used as weapons on the field. Knife throws must be done softly from an underhand position. No throwing overhand. Knife hits (held or thrown) count as a kill anywhere on the body. If you catch a thrown rubber knife, it still counts as a kill. Rubber knife kills can be considered a silent kill, meaning that you do not call 'HIT' right away to allow them to silently move by. 4. Mercy Kills: If you can touch someone with your gun barrel, without blindly shoving it around a corner, it counts as a mercy kill. Although you can engage players at close range please be courteous, no one wants to take a BB to the cheek from one foot away so aim for center mass, legs, feet, arms. gear. Mercy kills can only occur with loaded weapons. 5. Ricochets: Ricochets do not count, however when in doubt call yourself hit. By 'ricochets' we mean shots that are say, bounced off a wall in order to hit you around a corner. If you are in the bush and a shot glances off a leaf or a twig and then hits you, take the hit. When in doubt treat it as direct fire. 6. Calling others out: If you have hit another player and they are not aware of it you can call out 'Check your hits!' (ex: 'Guy in the tower, check your hits.') Abusive language will not be tolerated! Should any issues arise talk to a game admin. Please be adult when dealing with this If you do encounter an issue, please take note of the player ie: what gear he is wearing, what color camo, what gun, etc. It will help us in identifying the person in order for admin's to take action. Grenades All commercial gas powered grenades will be allowed on field (ie: AI Tornado Grenades, ThunderB, etc) No home made pyro grenades will ever be allowed. Commercial made pyro grenades *may* be allowed depending on conditions of field, permissions from owners and safety testing by admin staff. Any sound grenade over 100db will not be allowed at our current indoor facility. Grenade Kills Any grenade tossed into a confined space will be considered to kill any occupant. ie: A grenade is tossed into a bunker; A Grenade is tossed into a enclosed room. Being struck by a BB from a grenade is also a kill. The strike does not need to be direct hit, it can be a ricochet. Grenades must detonate properly. Duds do not count. Sound kills In the case of outdoor play, a 15ft kill radius will be considered for sound grenades such as the ThunderB or Disctraction Tornado. Dead Men Walking: Once you have been hit call out 'Hit!' or 'Deadman!' LOUDLY and immediately put your hands up. If you have a 'kill rag' (a red rag or hat) get it out ASAP to show that you have been killed. If the current game is not using a 'bleed out' rule CONTINUOUSLY call out 'hit' or 'deadman' and make your way off the field or to your respawn point. Dead men tell no tales! If you are dead do not talk to live players Anyone caught pretending to be a dead player to sneak up on other live players will be removed from the game. Blind Firing: Blind firing is forbidden at any event. You must be able to see what you are shooting at. Blind firing consists of putting your weapon around a corner or object and firing without looking. You must be able to sight down your weapon in order to shoot. This is to prevent close in firing eg: someone's face is directly around the corner. Crack Shooting: Shooting through a crack or hole (in a building or structure) smaller than a clenched fist is not allowed. In addition, you must be able to form a proper sight picture to shoot through a crack or hole. Vehicles The use of vehicles may be permitted at certain games. Please see the game orgnizer on usage. Vehicles will be limited in speed to ensure the safety of the players riding in the vehicles and those players on foot. Players on foot must stay at least 20 feet from the front, and 10 feet from the sides of a moving vehicle Only trained and authorized personnel are permitted to operate the vehicles Indoor Specific Rules Weapons are restricted to Semi fire only in the current Laser Trek enviroment. Blank firing grenades or pyro grenades are not permitted indoors. Climbing: Climbing is not permitted at lazer trek. You must keep your feet on the ground at all times. Climbing also includes the top of the turret houses & the "TREK" letters in the arena. Pizza Holes: There are small holes about 8" wide in the maze area that CANNOT be shot through for any reason from any distance back. You can look through them, shine a light through them but not shoot through them or at them for any reason. Do not place a light in one of these holes in order to cover the hallway. M203 Shells: All M203 shells must be used in conjunction with an M203 tube. You can not fire the shells by hand. When firing M203 shells please be aware of distances and where you are aiming. Nobody enjoys taking 80 rounds to the face. 1. When loading a M203 Gas grenade eye protection must be worn 2. When loading an M203 Gas grenade it must be facing away from anyone nearby. Ideally loading should be done in an isolated area to prevent accidental discharges 3. Loaded M203's must immediately be placed in proper storage pouch 4. Always maintain your M203's and ensure they are in 100% operational condition. Indoor BB Weight: At our indoor location, it is required for everyone to use a minimum of 0.2g BBs. Canadian Tire and other brand .12g BBs are not allowed. Biodegradable BB's are also disallowed as they tend to easily splinter when striking hard surfaces. SAWs: Squad Automatic Weapons, or SAW, are not allowed at indoor games as they have no semi auto fire select. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for people not following the rules. It is YOUR responsibility to know the rules, & at any time if you have any questions what so ever contact an Admin/Mod for assistance. For more info, concerns, feed back. Please feel free to PM / Email any of the following JOC Admin Members: Gish Kimbo Kengel Cleric Squash Attack Bandit ** Please Note** The JOC Admin's retain the ability to change/update any rule or ban any member for breach of these rules without prior notice.
